Introducing Mid-Century Modern Talks at MoseyHome

Autumn Events - 2016

We hope that you will join us for our fantastic Mid-Century Modern Design evening talks this Autumn.

We are over the moon that we have joined forces with NADFAS (the National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Societies) to deliver a series of brilliant design history talks.

Feed your design knowledge and gain an insight into Mid-Century Modern Art and design. Look at what the Mid Century Modern style is, who the key designers were and how their work changed and influenced design then and now.

If you have had a busy day, these events are the perfect way to unwind with a drink in relaxed surroundings with great company.
All events will be held at Mosey Home, (click here for map and details).

Doors open at 6.30pm, talks start at 7.00pm
Finish at 8.00pm, including time for a Q & A

Monday 24 October: Ceramics and Glass, Stone that Flows
Dr Justine Hopkins - Writer, & Lecturer in the History of Art

Explore the achievement of the artist-craftspeople, including Lucie Rie, Bernard Leach and Lalique whose energetic innovation, technical virtuosity and creative imagination made the mid-century modern period one of the most exciting in the history of glass and ceramic design.

Tuesday 22 November: Furniture - Form, Function and Flow
Christine Lalumia - Design Historian & Executive Director Contemporary Applied Arts

Gain an insight into the key furniture designers and makers of the period including Hans Wegner, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen and Robin Day. Discover how materials, fashion and culture influenced the style and stunning creations for the mid-century modern interior.

Time Out Came In…

If you’ve picked up the latest Time Out magazine, you might have noticed that their Best Bits column this week
is on Finsbury Park - and we’re so excited to have actually made it onto their list of what to check out when
visiting Stroud Green Road!

We (and lots of trusted customers) obviously think that MoseyHome is worth a visit any day but getting a pat on
the back from big league’er Time Out, that’s a real good day for MoseyHome.

We have been operating from our current location on Stroud Green Road for just about 2 years now, and have
loved the area every bit of the way. Our shop has very much grown up alongside the transformation that is
happening in the area, and we are happy to be part of this exciting time.

In doing the write-up, Time Out’s blogger Sonya Barber makes sure to point out that all our stock is “lovingly handpicked”
- and we’re thrilled that this comes across when browsing through MoseyHome as hours on end are spend each week
making sure that we find those special items that will turn your house into a proper home.

So as always, if you happen to be in the area, we would love for you to mosey on in, have a roam around our shop, and if
you happen to leave with that one item that truly speaks to you, that's our day made right then and there.

Themed to within an inch of its life, our vintage room set is our interpretation of a midcentury mix - a 1950s/1960s kitchen, complete with cooker and kettle. We'd love you to mosey over for a chat and a cuppa.
